About Orcas Summer Camp

Summer Camp is a staff-less dance and music camp – whoever comes to camp plays music for dances, calls, or dances.

Contra Dances are held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, and the rest of the time is spent on whatever activities you choose.

Daytime activities are open to your imagination. In the past, campers have participated in dance classes, squirt gun battles, hikes, cross-country croquet in the orchard, swimming, canoeing, and going group rummage sale hunting.

Meals are also prepared communally. Virginia Prowell plans a gourmet menu for the weekend, including a salmon dinner Sunday night. All of us help with meal preparation and cleanup.

Nine meals are provided throughout the four days, always including vegetarian and kid-friendly options.

Accommodations now have new bunks and mattresses, recently renovated duplexes, A-frames, and cabins, with a variety of shared bathroom facilities and a new bathhouse.
