Hello Fabulous Community:
We have decided that we will not be holding our August 2022 Orcas Summer Camp this year. We held hope, we kept watch, we analyzed. Many unknown to-date factors calculated into significant risk factors.
- COVID variant BA.2: it is unknown how this will develop.
- Housing: the Moran Retreat Center will only allow minimal tenting, as in years past. This requires many campers to sleep in cabins together. Even with a lower attendance number, we still need to rely on the cabins.
- Orcas Summer Camp is a regional larger community gathering.
- Kitchen staffing: our food preparation and the way we cook meals together (although it has been a fabulous experience) is not sustainable for years to come.
- Significant risk factors: non-refundable facility deposit, hired kitchen staff deposit, potential late camper cancellations as we progress through the pandemic (we are not yet out of the pandemic).
Most importantly, we are not going to risk your health and well being, nor the health and well-being of Orcas Camp as an institution.
We look forward to holding a revitalized Orcas Summer Camp with you in 2023!
