About Orcas Summer Camp

Summer Camp is a staff-less dance and music camp – whoever comes to camp plays music for dances, calls, or dances.

Contra Dances are held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, and the rest of the time is spent on whatever activities you choose.

Daytime activities are open to your imagination. In the past, campers have participated in dance classes, squirt gun battles, hikes, cross-country croquet in the orchard, swimming, canoeing, and going group rummage sale hunting.

Nine meals are provided throughout the four days, always including vegetarian and kid-friendly options. We plan a gourmet menu for the weekend, including a salmon dinner Sunday night.

Accommodations now have new bunks and mattresses, recently renovated duplexes, A-frames, and cabins, with a variety of shared bathroom facilities and a new bathhouse.

We spend a long weekend on Cascade Lake on Orcas Island.  Camp Moran Environmental Learning Center is located in Moran State Park and has a private beach and dock on the lake for swimming. Miles of trails are nearby at the foot of Mount Constitution.

Canoes are available for use on Cascade Lake.  Bring your kayak for a paddle on the lake or for a salt-water trip in the San Juans.

Nearby is eclectic Doe Bay where you can spend time in their hot tubs overlooking the ocean.  Olga is a few miles away with an art gallery, where local artists sell their work.
